About Me

Hello,

My name is Abigail Winternitz, and I am a  public relations practitioner. When choosing my career path, I want to be able to use my skills in communication, writing, digital analytics and design to help advocate on behalf of relevant causes and to better communicate and market on behalf of health, science and technology brands.

Throughout my career thus far, I've had the opportunity to work on several relevant public relations campaigns. This past year I worked with the Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) through the Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board to create a print, face-to-face and digital campaign that tackles the public stigma behind the use of naloxone (Narcan) to revive opioid misusers in Trumbull County. This campaign, entitled "Can You Imagine a World Without Band-aids?" focused on showing the similarities between Narcan and band-aids, in that both are temporary, but effective methods of intervention.

I also had the opportunity to work with a non-profit client called With Purpose to create an in-school public relations campaign that focused on narrowing the pre-clinical gap in childhood cancer research. Through our campaign, we educated STEM middle and high schoolers about the opportunities available in a career focusing on childhood cancer research. Our campaign, "Starting with STEM," placed second in the nation out of 84 submissions in the Public Relations Student Society of America's 2018 Bateman Competition.

I also worked on an internal communications campaign for manufacturing employees at the Eaton Corporation in Beechwood, Ohio. The campaign was focused on reducing turnover rates and raising employee morale and included establishing a mentoring program and creating a brand ambassador position for the Euclid and Brooklyn, Ohio plants.

Continuously, I’ve been fortunate to work for two companies dedicated to compassionate healthcare initiatives: Mercy Health, where I contributed to their "Called to Serve" community service campaign and the Kent State University College of Public Health, where I maintain their social media pages and website, work on fundraising initiatives, write press releases and design marketing materials.

I am passionate about my work in communications and look forward to having the opportunity to make an impact in the industry.
